Too Big to Ignore:
The Urgent Need to Confront Anti-Fat Bias in Higher Education
I chose to explore how student affairs practitioners can integrate the principles of fat liberation into their daily work by supporting fat students and confronting their own anti-fat biases.
I realized that writing a traditional academic paper on the topic wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to create something practical and interactive that would foster genuine engagement with these important issues.
So, I created the zine Too Big to Ignore, designed as an actionable, hands-on resource for student affairs practitioners. The zine simplifies the key insights from a longer essay into a more approachable and digestible format that is tailored specifically for current practitioners. The content is distilled into bite-sized sections that are easily accessible, providing definitions of key terms, summaries of relevant literature, reflection questions, and action steps that practitioners can implement directly in their work.
Please share widely. This zine is meant to move. Print and distribute as many copies as you like. Share it anywhere. Say the word fat.
